“You cannot possibly know what it will be but looking back you
will not be surprised at what you have done.”    -Agnes Marten

Sharon Kyle Kuhn (1-25-56) is known for the complexity seen her energetic and free flowing paintings as well as the use of found objects, the luminous colors and interesting texture seen in her encaustic pieces.

Sharon left her home in Houston and settled in Atlanta in the early 80's. It was there she developed her talent in painting. She began her studies in African Art and Architecture and Art History at Agnes Scott College and soon moved to New York where she enrolled in New York University's Art School. Here, she studied painting with Lisa Yuskavage, Freya Hansell and Emily Chang and graduated with honors with a degree in Art Education. Upon graduation, she relocated to Northern California where she became a member of the San Francisco art community. Sharon also taught art classes at Hunter's Point Studios in San Francisco and exhibited her work frequently.

In 2005, she and her husband relocated to Austin, Texas where she has settled into her east Austin studio. Her works can be seen in numerous private collections throughout the United States. She has traveled and studied in Budapest, Prague, Germany, Austria and most recently had extensive travels throughout China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The people she meets and the places she visits are always a part of her creative inspiration.
